N! News Short - Nova scientist arrested! Is Rook next?

[Shot of Gordian being led down a nondescript hallway in chains.]

"Not-so-renowned nova physicist Gordian Phock was arrested in Ann Arbor yesterday for multiple counts of reckless endangerment, manslaughter, destruction of public property, and other charges stemming from the role he played in the now infamous Evolution Lounge affair.

"'It's very likely he'll be found guilty,'" [says lawyer and radio talk show host Chuck Heggeman.] "'The whole thing was very poorly planned and it's a wonder that the FBI haven't arrested his corrupt boss Rook.'

"Phock was widely recognized as a brilliant but impractical scientist.

"'Of course, he was smart,'" [says an unnamed woman in a lab coat,] "'he was one of the smartest people in the world. But that is not how you do science - that is not how you get money for your research - and you do not just go and open up portals to other possible worlds. The scientific community has ethical review boards just for this kind of thing. He really wanted to do something good, I understand, and it's a shame that he had to get arrested, but he wasn't going through the proper channels, he was not following the law. I feel bad for him, but that could have been the end of the world. If the scientific community couldn't stop him, I'm glad the police did.

"'He wasn't even a real doctor of anything.'"
